Korean Air Commit to Buy Five Boeing 747-8s and Six 777-300ERs
South Korean airlines, Korean Air, also shopping on the aviation industry exhibition Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. The airline company is committed to buy 11 aircraft's from Boeing, consists of five 747-8 Intercontinental and six 777-300ER aircraft. Agreement between Korean Air and Boeing is worth about U.S. $ 3.6 billion, according to the price list current aircraft."Korean Air Boeing customer is very valuable and they are committed to buy more double aisle aircraft from Boeing, showing us a very strong partnership," said President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Ray Conner.
Korean Air is the only airline in the world to operate the 747-8 well for the passenger version and cargo version. When this commitment is finalized, Korean Air will have 10 units order 747-8 Intercontinental (passenger version). In addition, the airline also has taken delivery of three of the seven cargo version of the 747-8 aircraft ordered.
Korean Air currently operates at least 90 aircraft made by Boeing, consists of 737, 747, and 777. The company also operates a cargo plane made entirely of Boeing, the 747-400, 747-8, and 777F. In February 2012, Korean Air became the first airline to operate the 747-8 and the 777 freight version as well.
