Cubana comeback to Sao Paulo, Brazil after 11 years absent

The Cubana de Aviacion aircraft landed yesterday July 11, 2013 at the Sao Paulo international airport. According to diplomatic sources on the Caribbean island, there is a growing trend in the inflow of travelers from that South American nation to Cuba.

Cubana de Aviacion, Havana, Cuba has re-started nonstop flights to Sao Paulo, Brazil, 1 weekly.

On December 2004 Cubana out of service Havana-Sao Paulo route and on July 10 was restored. These route will served by Ilyushin IL 96-300 aircraft.

New Antonov An-148 for CUBANA

The Antonov An-148 is a regional jet aircraft designed by the Ukrainian Antonov company and produced by Antonov itself and also on outsource by Russia's Voronezh Aircraft Production Association.

Antonov announced, today April 23, 2013 that was delivery first a new Antonov An-158 aircraft to the Cuban airline Cubana. This delivery is made through a leasing company Ilyushin Finance Co., which acted as the aircraft customer. Total Cubana ordered 10 Antonov An-158 aircrafts, during the 2013-2014 will be delivered. In summer of this year, two aircrafts will be delivered in June and July 2013, on next year 2014 the rest will be delivered.

The airliner the standard configuration of the cabin and is designed to carry 97 passengers, maximum range of 2,100–4,400 kilometers.

The first Antonov An-158 has already made a flight to Cuba with intermediate stops at Keflavik (Iceland) and Halifax (Canada).
